Bell Trigger Youth Bicycle Helmet
The Bell Trigger is a recreational bike helmet that offers youth riders top-notch Bell construction and features at an entry-level price. The Trigger features the same, high-quality Fusion In-Mold construction as Bell's adult helmets--a process which fuses the microshell directly to the EPS foam layer for a sturdier, more solid helmet. This sturdy build allows Bell to mold in 23 vents, which usher cool air in and exhaust warm air out, keeping kids cool as they ride . The universally-sized Trigger provides growing riders with an easy-to-adjust customizable fit thanks to the one-handed ErgoDial fit system. Simply push the button and roll the dial for a secure fit. Meanwhile, thanks to Cam-Lock levers, chin-strap adjustments are headache free. Finally, the Trigger features a PinchGuard buckle on the chin strap to prevent kids from accidentally catching the skin on their neck when they snap the helmet on. Perfect for the tween set, the Trigger helmet is comfortable and easy to wear--ensuring that young riders won't hit the street or trail unprotected.
TECHNOLOGIES
CAM-LOCK LEVERS: Bell’s Cam-Lock strap levers make it easy to adjust the straps around your ears. Simply open the cam, position the strap comfortably and close the lever.
ERGODIAL: The ErgoDial Fit System brings one-handed adjustments to Bell's Universal Fit helmets. A simple press of the button and slide of the dial brings firm, snug and comfy stability to your helmet.
FUSION IN-MOLD MICROSHELL: In-molding is the process of bonding the helmet’s Microshell to its EPS foam layer to provide a sturdier, more solid helmet. The EPS foam is shot into the thin Microshell cap when it’s in the mold--rather than formed separately and taped on later. This process was pioneered by Bell and is now the industry standard for high-end helmets.
PINCHGUARD BUCKLE: Bell’s PinchGuard buckle is specially designed to prevent kids from pinching their neck when they secure their helmet.

My son is 7 and it was time to replace his helmet with something a bit larger. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if the new helmet looked great too! As always, I researched quite a bit before deciding on the Bell Trigger and then on the green and black scorpion flames model.
My son really loves the colors and the helmet adjusts to fit very well. So, the product has good reviews for it's protection (the most important feature of all), it fits perfectly, it looks awesome, and it's fairly priced. I don't think there's much else to say other than that I would recommend it highly for kids who have outgrown a toddler helmet but aren't ready for an adult helmet yet.

This was the second helmet we tried after we discovered that the Giro Me2 Infant Bike Helmet was too small (according to the Giro specs, it should have fit, but the shape of the helmet did not match the shape of my son's head so it just didn't work). But this one fit my 2yo (in the 99th percentile so he's BIG!) perfectly. And it was fairly easy to adjust--the worst part being the sections around the ears (which as another reviewer stated, you just can't seem to get them to lay perfectly flat). But it didn't seem to bother my son at all, so YMMV on that one. We haven't actually gotten to officially try it out yet since my son isn't taking to his bike as quickly as we hoped...but hopefully I'll never have to write an update on how great the helmet was after a crash!

This helmet is great, even for adults! I bought it, after trying it on at a local sports store, and it actually fits better than the adults sizes, which tend to look a little too large for my small face (22 year old female). It looks great (I bought the gray/black stars) and when I got home, my husband at first made fun of me for buying a youth helmet, but after trying it on, he decided that he liked it better than his current helmet and went out today to buy his own! Great little helmet, if you feel like adults are a pinch too big.
