Bell Lumen Bicycle Helmet
The Bell Lumen is a lightweight, reinforced helmet built for serious road warriors, racers, and avid riders. Internal, re-bar like reinforcement is added to the Lumen's sturdy fusion in-molded construction to amp up protection while reducing weight and bulk. To keep you cool, the Lumen features 22 high-volume, internally channeled vents that keep air flowing at any speed, whether you're charging at 30 miles per hour or creeping up a steep incline.
The Lumen comes in three adult sizes and is equipped with a built-in Geared Positioning System (GPS) that allows you to dial in a custom fit with one-hand. Meanwhile, the Cam-Lock strap levers make it easy and headache-free to adjust the straps around your ears and chin for effortless comfort. The Lumen is topped off with unique, Bell registered graphics.
TECHNOLOGIES
FUSION IN-MOLD MICROSHELL: In-molding is the process of bonding the helmet’s Microshell to its EPS foam layer to provide a sturdier, more solid helmet. The EPS foam is shot into the thin Microshell cap when it’s in the mold--rather than formed separately and taped on later. This process was pioneered by Bell and is now the industry standard for high-end helmets.
INTERNAL REINFORCEMENT: In order to maximize venting and minimize bulk, high-end helmets feature internal reinforcement structures. This composite skeleton fortifies the helmet the same way rebar makes concrete stronger, allowing for bigger vents, more advanced styling and lighter weight, while still meeting stringent safety standards.
CHANNELED VENTILATION: Specially designed ventilation channels on the interior of the helmet's liner bring cool air in through the front, pass it over the head and flush warm air out of the rear ports. These deeply sculpted channels are designed to keep air moving whether you're bombing it at 30 mph, or huffing it uphill at single digit speed.
GEARED POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS): The often imitated Geared Positioning System (GPS) delivers easy and quick one-hand adjustment for superior fit and comfort. Simply slide the dial to click-in a custom fit.
CAM-LOCK LEVERS: Bell’s Cam-Lock strap levers make it easy to adjust the straps around your ears. Simply open the cam, position the strap comfortably and close the lever.
REGISTERED GRAPHICS: Bell designers have pioneered methods for registering graphics, so that they can make some of the most graphically complex and visually appealing helmets in the world.

By Brent
This is a comfortable, highly adjustable helmet. I have a very large head and am thrilled to find a value helmet that has sizing. I wear a 7 3/4 hate size and this helmet fits great. Very adjustable straps. The one down part about this, the helmet is VERY bulky. Though it looks stream lined in the pic, it really is very bulky, at least the large anyway. I recommend this helmet to anyone that doesn't want to break the bank and can not fit into a one size fits all helmet.

By Tweezak
First, fit is great and I don't find it bulky at all compared to all other budget helmets I've owned. I wear a 7 3/8 hat and my head is elongated front-to-rear. Therefore I generally have to go with a large shell that ends up being wider than I need and seriously huge-looking. I bought this helmet locally because I wanted to try it on and because I trust the shop where I bought it. To my surprise a medium of this model fits me to a tee and is close to my head on the sides. It is very comfortable for me and I find it pretty light compared to other affordable helmets I've owned. Ventilation is also very good. I've worn this lid on many 100+ mile rides and I never think about it.
Unfortunately I got to crash test this helmet. I had a get-off at low speed in a situation where I was unable to catch myself. My head and shoulder took the full impact. The Lumen cracked in several places and crushed to about half the original thickness where I hit. I hurt my neck but I had no indication of a concussion or head injury at all. No headache, nothing. I was amazed how well it took the fall. I do credit part of this to how well it fits my head (spreading the impact) and the fact that I keep my strap reasonably snug so the helmet stays in place in just such cases.
Bottom line: I like this helmet so much I came here shopping for a replacement. It is now just a question of paying Bell $35 as part of their "crash replacement policy" or just buying a new one online.
Other comments: This is one of the few helmets I've used where the straps lie reasonably flat; the buckle setup is really good. The fit adjustment mechanism is also better than most I've used and hugs your head well.
Cons: a removable visor would be nice.

By ujmk
I have a big head. Visited several bike stores, tried several brands' universal sizes and even XL sizes with no luck. This one fits great. The moment I put it on my head I knew it is the one I was looking for. Thank you Bell!
