The promise of any great helmet is that you'll forget you have it on. Bell engineers undertook that task by keeping the Volt helmet light and making sure it was ventilated. At 320g, it's one of the lightest out there. The Volt's 22 vents direct air into the helmet, over the head and out the back to keep airflow constant, just like riding sans bucket. The carbon fiber Fusion In-Mold Microshell adds carbon fiber strength to the internally reinforced EPS foam for greater durability. Bell Volt Bicycle Helmet
A regular on the Pro Tour, the Bell Volt helmet offers a unique combination of lightweight protection, ventilation, and high-tech comfort for serious road and mountain riding. The Volt sets the standard for the lightweight protection with a fusion in-molded microshell that is strengthened with both rebar-like internal reinforcement and a fortifying skeleton of composite fiber. The composite fiber skeleton is ultra lightweight, with a directional orientation that deflects air into the helmet’s internal StreamJet Ventilation system for greater cooling. The helmet is reinforced from below with an in-mold microshell bottom wrap that adds to the helmet's aesthetics and increases its protective strength.
The Volt is designed to keep riders cool and comfortable at any speed with Composite Fiber Intakes (CFI) and internal StreamJet Ventilation channels to keep cool air flowing in and warm air exhausting efficiently. The helmet's moisture-wicking X-Static padding keeps the rider dry and discourages the buildup of odor-causing bacteria. The Volt is equipped with a removable Variable Position Visor that allows for 15 degrees of horizontal adjustment, to keep the sun out of the rider's eyes at any time of day.
The Volt comes in three adult sizes for a close fit out of the box. The helmet's Twin Axis Gear (TAG) fit system then allows the rider to dial in an exact circumferential fit as well as dial in a secure horizontal position on the back of the head. Meanwhile, Cam-Lock levers allow the rider to position the chin strap quickly and easily for a proper fit around the ears. The Volt is topped off with unique, registered Bell graphics.
TECHNOLOGIES
TWIN AXIS GEAR (TAG): Bell’s next-generation Twin Axis Gear (TAG) fit system adjusts to the head on two axes--circumferentially as standard fit systems do, but also horizontally to better accommodate differences in the up/down position of the occipital lobe. For added comfort Bell's co-molded the system arms with soft rubber and positioned them higher to better accommodate eyewear. The result is a highly adjustable, comfortable, and easy-to-use fit system.
CAM-LOCK LEVERS: Bell’s Cam-Lock strap levers make it easy to adjust the straps around your ears. Simply open the cam, position the strap comfortably and close the lever.
COMPOSITE FIBER INTAKE (CFI) COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION: Bell’s Composite Fiber Intakes (CFI) serve double duty on the Volt. First, they serve as an ultra lightweight yet rigid skeleton to reinforce the helmet’s overall structure. Second, their directional orientation deflects airflow to the helmet’s internal StreamJet Ventilation system which uses the Venturi Effect to increase ventilation velocity and cooling.
FUSION IN-MOLD MICROSHELL: In-molding is the process of bonding the helmet’s Microshell to its EPS foam layer to provide a sturdier, more solid helmet. The EPS foam is shot into the thin Microshell cap when it’s in the mold--rather than formed separately and taped on later. This process was pioneered by Bell and is now the industry standard for high-end helmets.
IN-MOLD BOTTOM WRAP: In-Mold bottom wraps bring a new level of durability, solidity and aesthetics to helmets. By bonding Microshell material to the lower half of the helmet, In-Mold bottom wraps cover what on most helmets is a less durable, exposed EPS foam.
INTERNAL REINFORCEMENT: In order to maximize venting and minimize bulk, high-end helmets feature internal reinforcement structures. This composite skeleton fortifies the helmet the same way rebar makes concrete stronger, allowing for bigger vents, more advanced styling and lighter weight, while still meeting stringent safety standards.
STREAMJET VENTILATION: Exclusively for the Volt, Bell engineers created an airflow matrix that mixes the deeply sculpted Channeled Ventilation ducts with specially designed constriction channels that use the Venturi Effect to increase airflow rates. The result of the alternating high volume and high airflow channels is a system that efficiently moves cool air in the front and exhausts warm flow out the rear of the helmet.
X-STATIC PADDING: Woven with real silver fibers, X-Static Padding is a quick-drying material that inhibits growth of odor-causing bacteria and fungi while keeping you cooler than standard comfort pads.
VARIABLE POSITION VISOR (VPV): Bell’s top-of-the-line Variable Position Visor allows for 15 degrees of horizontal adjustment by using an imbedded clutch mechanism that holds the visor firmly at the desired angle. Changing the VPV’s angle just takes a simple up or down tug.
VISOR PLUGS: Visor Plugs are designed to be snapped into visor receptacles when the visor is removed to give the helmet a finished look.
REGISTERED GRAPHICS: Bell designers have pioneered methods for registering graphics, so that they can make some of the most graphically complex and visually appealing helmets in the world.

The volt is a solid helmet with abundant venting. Helmet adjustments are a snap when going from summer to fall (if you wear a head warmer). The down side to the helmets are two fold. As compared to other road bike helmet manufacturers, the Volt is a little heavy. Additionally, padding is sparse on this helmet and, depending on your head shape, you may find a contact point on the crown of your head that doesn't include any padding. Otherwise, this is a well ventilated helmet with many adjustments to fit most any head size.

Excellent Helmet!!!! Great Ventilation!!! Light!!! Superb Fit!!! I have tried numerous helmets and this is the best so far - comparable to Giro's top helmets. It is also cheaper. Best of all is that it has a removable visor which allows the helmet to switch between off-road and on-road use. IT IS A GREAT HELMET FOR THE PRICE ON AMAZON.COM (and free shipping!)

There are great helmets, there are so-so helmets, and there are total crap helmets. This one is in the great-awesome category! I mostly do road cycling, with a bit of mtn. biking when I can get a break from the city. I'll keep it simple: It's light, tons of vents, fits my head well (although the front pad feels to be a little snug)and the design is super sweet! I got this from Amazon almost 40% off, so it a was awesome deal. Just get one, you'll be super cool (literally)
